The staff and volunteers of the Together Clubs had a lovely time delivering Christmas Hampers to our members on Thursday in Clifton and Monday in Arnold.
Seventy bags were made up, personally tagged, and filled with goodies, a puzzle book, a photo Christmas card from the staff and several cards from ALL the children of Glapton School and also students at Farnbough Academy.
The children’s cards were beautiful and so well received; it was obvious a lot of care had gone into their creation. Everyone had a personal doorstop visit with time for a chat and a catch-up.
There were one or two tears shed by staff and members.
The following letter came from one of our members who lives alone and has significant hearing loss:
“Good Morning Joy. Your visit on Thursday was wonderful. Sorry I did all the talking! I later looked inside my Christmas Hamper and what can I say? Thank You seems so inadequate. Double thank you and God bless you ALL now and always. I have always believed that Christmas is so special for children, I nearly said belongs to, but I know it belongs to us all, but the card from the school children is extra special. “Thank You children, God’s blessings upon you all, not only at Christmas but at all times.” The cards have found a prominent position in my display. Love Ron”
The students from Glapton and Farnborough made so many lovely cards that we were also able to take some to be distributed among the residents at Lark Hill Retirement Village.
